Hello, #Vivers! The date of celebration of the PCE 2022 selectivity exams organized by UNEDasiss. To help you in your preparation, today we bring you the video with the solved Chemistry exam corresponding to the PCE selectivity call for May 2021, made by our Biology and Chemistry teacher, Julia Salvador.

As you will see in the video of the solved PCE selectivity Chemistry exam, at the beginning there are the general instructions that tell us how to take the test, as well as the criteria by which we will be evaluated, which we indicate below.

General instructions.

  • You have 90 minutes to take the exam.
  • The use of non-programmable scientific calculator.
  • While we have the exam in our possession, we will ONLY be able to communicate with the members of the Exam Tribunal. Any other type of communication or use of unauthorized devices or materials will result in the withdrawal of the exam, which will be reflected in the Minutes as an ILLEGAL COPY.
  • The exam must be taken with a blue or black pen.
  • You cannot use any type of concealer (Tipp-Ex).
  • No sheet can be used that has not been delivered by a member of the Examination Board. The answer sheets must be numbered in the boxes that appear at the bottom.

Structure of the PCE selectivity Chemistry exam

The exam consists of three blocks: one of objective questions (test type) and another two of open questions (development questions).

  1. 1 block: consists of 15 objective multiple choice questions, each with 3 possible alternatives, of which only one is the correct answer. Of the 15 questions, only 10 must be answered and on the specific sheet for these questions. It is important that you keep in mind that if you answer more than 10 questions, only the first 10 answered questions will be evaluated.
  2. 2 block: It will consist of two open questions or problem-type development questions that may, in turn, contain several sections.
  3. 3 block: It will consist of two open questions or problem-type development questions that may, in turn, contain several sections.

Only one question will be chosen from block 2 and another from block 3. Two questions from the same block cannot be chosen. If so, only the first question answered will be corrected and one of the blocks will have 0 points.

Evaluation criteria for the PCE selectivity Chemistry exam

Regarding the evaluation, the criteria that the UNED will use are:

  • In the block of multiple choice questions, the maximum score is 4 points. Each correct question will add 0,4; Each incorrect question will subtract 0,15 and blank questions do not add or subtract in the final calculation.
  • In the development block, each question has a maximum value of 3 points, therefore, the maximum score for this block can be 6 points. The questions or sections in which you are asked to reason or justify the answer will be scored with 20% of their value in the event that said reasoning or justification is not carried out, in other words, if you do not answer by reasoning or justifying the answers, you will be can subtract up to 80% of the value of the question.

On the other hand, it is important that you know that the evaluation criteria will take into account:

  • Syntactic correctness; That is, the part of the response that has to be written is syntactically well written.
  • Spelling correction: spelling mistakes (including mistakes due to not putting or putting an accent mark in the wrong place) lower points in the final exam grade.
  • Lexical property: it is important to use good scientific language and not use colloquial vocabulary when writing the answers to the questions in the development block.
  • Proper presentation: cleanliness, order, clarity in writing, leaving margins, etc.

If these general correction criteria are not met, the score may be reduced by 10% of the maximum for the question.

Recommendations to take the Chemistry exam.

In addition to all of the above, it is recommended that when you take the exam you take into account:

  • First of all, it is important to carefully read the general instructions in the header.
  • Read the questions carefully to avoid later errors and, if necessary, do not start answering until you have fully understood the questions.
  • It is important to take into account the exam execution time; We know that it is 90 minutes and we have to distribute them into: reading the questions in detail, answering them and leaving time to review before handing in the exam. To control those 90 minutes, we cannot forget that the use of mobile phones or electronic devices, including smartwatches, is not permitted.
  • Respond to questions by sticking to what is asked; do not put more. This way we will avoid making mistakes and being penalized.
